What I Ate Wednesday: “Annie’ Knows Asian” Edition

It’s time again for 2 Wednesday things: inappropriate office jokes regarding the word hump and the always-popular, What I Ate Wednesday.  I’m excited to share my eats with you.  They aren’t pretty, but they are nutritious, filling, and delicious!

I’m back to my 3-part breakfasts.  I start with half a banana before my workout, and then I have an all-natural, vanilla, whey protein shake with water after the workout.

My real, sit-down breakfast includes more of my Love Grown Foods granola with all-natural, fat-free, plain yogurt.  I wish it were organic yogurt, but my grocery store doesn’t sell plain, organic, fat-free yogurt.  Bummer.

Lunch is the same Monday through Friday this week, and it’s awesome.  I’m having a whole wheat wrap with tuna, broccoli slaw, and 1 TBS of Annie Chun’s teriyaki.  Oh, and there’s also a side of peach.

lunch1

Annie – thank you for making my lunch both yummy and HFCS-free.  What can I say?  Annie knows Asian!

lunch2

Snack consists of cherries and 115 grams of 2% cottage cheese.  The fat and protein in the cheese keeps me satisfied for quite a while.  I’ve also been snacking when I get home from work.  Whoops!  I’ve kept it healthy, like the remaining half of the banana with 1 TBS peeb.

Earlier this week, Kev and I had natural chicken sausages two nights, and I’ll get to enjoy a sweet potato the next two nights.  Kev wanted birthday steak last night, so I got half a filet.  I told ya’ my eats weren’t pretty this week!

dinner

Did you expect to see birthday cake as a dessert?  Although I offered to make a little something, I knew Kev would decline.  He doesn’t eat sweets.  Crazy, right?  You know what that means… more ice cream for me!!!

  • Do you plan your meals out for the week, or do you roll with whatever’s in the house?

By the way, thanks so much for the book ideas!  I think I need to add Hunger Games, other The Girl Who… books, and Poacher’s Son to my list (just to name a few).  There were a ton of good suggestions!

  1. I definitely meal plan every week. Keeps the budget nice and low, plus if I don’t have a set plan I basically do nothing haha.

  2. I definitely roll with whatever is in the house! I’ve tried to plan my meals in the past but every time I do I end up not wanting it once it’s planned – plus I tend to just go with what I’m craving/feeling at the moment so it works better for me to just stock my house and then make it up from there! 🙂

  3. I just roll with it, that’s why I rarely post recipes… I need to change my recipe page to “The Random Sh*t I Eat”… then I could post something every day! 🙂

So the Annie Chun’s teriyaki is good? The last store bought one I had was TERRIBLE. I might need to hit that up!

  4. Peaches are always so perfect in the summer. Yummy!! 🙂 I try to plan ahead, but most of the time I just dig into whatever’s in da fridge 😉

  5. Never plan my meals out for the week – just kinda go with the flow! 🙂 xoxo from trinidad

  6. Glad I’m not the only one who does 3-part breakfasts some days. I can’t stomach much before an early run so banana it is then I’m famished and the real eating begins 😉 I try to plan out meals but sometimes decide what I had planned no longer sounds good so then I scrounge around and come up with something else.

  7. I love planning out my meals, so much easier and i “try” to cook most of them on sunday so its easier to just grab and go! Try is in quotes cause it certainly doesn’t always happen!
I’m SO obsessed with tuna wraps right now, its the perfect summer lunch or dinner, never tried teriyaki before, great idea tiff 🙂

  8. I usually just roll with whatever I’m craving! Or, if I’m starving, then I go with something super simple and quick! Lately I’ve been craving greek yogurt + blueberries!

  9. I just roll with whatever is in the house. I wish I would plan though… maybe I wouldn’t have to go to Trader Joe’s so often… save me a little time. Especially when shopping involves loading and unloading 3 kids into the car 4 times. I guess I could just look at it as exercise though 🙂

  10. I always love your multiple breakfasts! That’s the way to go, I need to start breaking mine up (mostly because I love breakfast, but partly ’cause I eat round one at 5am, and noon is way too far away from that time). I plan out my lunches for the week, because I know I won’t prepare anything to take in the morning otherwise and will end up ending expensive junk. Breakfast and din are whatever I feel like making, although I usually plan on pancakes at least once on the weekend 😀

  11. I usually use whatever is in my house. That wrap looks delicious!

  12. I usually just eat whatever is in my house. I try to plan things but then I get lazy and just try to go with whatever
Your wrap looks mighty tasty 🙂

  13. as long as the meals are tasty and satisfy YOU they are the most fabulous meals ever. I had a sweet potato with beans last night. boring? yes. ugly? oh yes. delicious and satisfying? all that matters. ♥

  14. My bf didnt like sweets at first but i made him a lover!

  15. I’m not much of a meal planner… I just kinda go with whatever I’m craving at the moment, or with whatever needs to be used up. I used to be a meal planner and it drove me crazzzzy eventually. Better to just go with the flow 😀

  16. I usually just roll with whatevers house at the time for meals – which is usually the same type of stuff considering I do all the grocery shopping! lol

Sam doesn’t like sweets either so there’s always more for me! 😉

  17. How can anyone NOT eat sweets? My sweet tooth is a mile long. 🙂

Meal planning is essential for me – otherwise I go nuts in the farmer’s market and then I forget what I was going to make with all my goodies.

  18. Yummy eats! I have been loving peaches lately–they are soo good when they are in season!

  19. I usually just roll with it!

  20. Your eats look tasty! I’m definitely not a meal planner…I like to go with what I’m feeling at that time! I love Annie…she has great stuff 🙂

  21. Oh wow Tiff, you are so dang cute. I love your profile pic, that is classic. I love that you aren’t afraid to say you love beer, he he. I love it too!! Now if I can just figure out how to get my body looking like yours, hmmmm.

I am following your tweets girl, and am so excited I found your blog. You are a great inspiration, and I love your style of eating. Pretty isn’t always my thing either, BUT your food does sound good. Especially that tuna wrap, YUMMY!!

  22. I don’t plan out my meals i’m such a bum! I try to… i write a list with ideas and such, and then lose it 😉 haha! Though I have gotten so many ideas to try today I need to meal-plan this ouuuut! and NOT lose it!

Annies makes terriyaki sauce!? umm… WANT! Her stuff is delsih… except the noodle bowl I tried… miso and noodles? yeah no bueno! yikes!

    Happy WIAW!

  23. I’ve been trying to plan my meals for the week- it really helps with snacking, which I’m really bad about!

  24. Haha I love how the sweet tater is like 2x the size of the steak! Gotta focus on the best part right?

  25. Do you not get sick of the same meal at lunch? I’ve tried to do that but always end up craving something different after a few days. Those cherries look yummy!

    • Sometimes. If lunch isn’t awesome (like a salad), then yes, I get tired of it by day 4 or 5. If lunch is good (like a sandwich or tasty wrap), then not really. It’s just easier to buy all the things I need for one week; otherwise it will go bad!

  26. I’m reading, “When God was a Rabbit” at the moment…it’s fab! Great eats!

  27. There is no way I could plan ahead. I don’t live alone yet so someone might eat what I’d planned on for dinner or something like that. When I’m living alone abroad this year perhaps I’ll have a bit more of a plan, but usually I like to roll with the punches.

  28. i used to always meal plan but it seems to have all gone outta the window of late! I’m must make it one of my goals to plan ahead to keep the budget down 🙂

  29. Pretty sure I could have steak and sweet potato every night of the week.
